πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ American Accent Cheatsheet with Voice

For Indians: speak more naturally, smoothly and confidently.
Tap any πŸ”Š button, or tap β–Ά Play all in a section to hear the whole section one by one with a pause to repeat after each line. First listen on Slow, copy it, then try Normal. Do not just read β€” say it out loud.

First, what does _ mean?

_ is NOT a sound. Do not say β€œunderscore”.
_ just means: no pause, join the words into one flow, like they are one long word.

Example: take_a does NOT become β€œtake-wa”.
It becomes: tay-kuh β€” say β€œtake” + β€œa” together, with no gap. The β€œa” becomes a short β€œuh”.

Same idea:
go_out = go-wout (go + w + out, one breath)
look_at = loo-kat (look + at, one word)
get_up = get-up (say it as one word: getup)

What do /ΞΈ/ and /Γ°/ mean? In plain words

These are just dictionary codes for the two TH sounds. Forget the symbols, remember the mouth:

1. Air TH β€” code /ΞΈ/ β€” think, three, thank, with (sometimes)
Tongue tip lightly between your teeth, blow air out, no voice buzz. Like a soft β€œsss” but with your tongue out.
Say it like: th-ingk, th-ree, th-ank β€” tongue out, blow.

2. Buzz TH β€” code /Γ°/ β€” this, that, them, they, with
Same tongue place, between teeth, but now turn your voice on, buzz like a soft β€œzzz” with tongue out.
Say it like: dh-is, dh-at, dh-em β€” tongue out, buzz.

Test: Put your fingers on your throat. Air TH = no vibration. Buzz TH = you feel vibration. That is the only difference.

1. Consonant to Vowel β€” just join, no extra sound

Last word ends in a consonant, next starts with a vowel. No pause, no extra β€œuh” in the middle, except when the word itself is β€œa”.

2. Vowel to Vowel β€” add a tiny y or w
